It’s easy to say we love our husbands. Not always as easy to show it.
Yesterday I spent some time thinking about Romans 12:9-10. Look at how The Message words it:
Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.
Ouch. How often am I far more likely to show love to a stranger than to the very person I’ve committed my entire life to? How often am I willing to play “second fiddle?” How often do I act like a good friend to my husband who loves deeply? If I’m honest, I’m not very willing. I don’t always love deeply. At least not selflessly. Instead, I think about what my husband should be doing for me – rather than the other way around. I think about what I already do for my husband – the tasks, the to-do list, and chalk that up to love. Yet God calls us not just to do – but to be. To be love. To be kind. To be his biggest supporter. To be reflective of where we find our example of love – from God.
THE CHALLENGE
So… this week – our very first week of challenges! – your challenge is to show your husband love. To love deeply. To practice playing second fiddle. And take notes. Record what happens. What are you challenged in this week as you do this? (Because you will be challenged! Trust me!) How do you overcome? And how does your husband respond?
This Friday, I’ll post our first P31 Response. This will be your time to share how the week’s gone – what’s gone great, what you know you need to work on.
Just a little warning from one who has tried this “Grow me in You, Lord” stuff. It can be gut-wrenching and don’t be surprised if it’s a lot harder than ya think. You may not see ANY response from your hubby. You may wonder if any of what you’re doing matters. Don’t be dissuaded from pursuing God’s great. This is less about changing your husband. It’s a whole lot more about changing you into the woman God knows you to be. I’m praying for all of us as we focus this week on showing love!

Awesome! I’m not saying this will be easy because none of us likes to play second fiddle (although I’d really like to learn to play a real fiddle..lol). Anyway, looking forward to these challenges! Thank you Sara for your obedience in this calling!
So looking forward to this challenge! Playing second fiddle is something I am used to as a military wife, but not something I like! Lol
Praying for everyone!
Giving it a whirl…http://freshbrewedwriter.blogspot.com/2011/10/loving-my-husband.html
Hi! This is one of my foremost goals for the week. I am stinking at it so far, so I am going to have to come up with a specific plan how to accomplish it.

I might be blogging about this more than once this week! http://bethlisteningtohim.blogspot.com/2011/10/p31-challenge-week-1.html
